We have added Paypal on as an extra payment option on the recruiting site, as it is one of the most common forms of payment in the UK and other countries & this is a method by which you can sell the IBP overseas.
Up till recently you could have a paypal account in South Africa but you could only use it to buy with and you couldn’t transfer the money to your bank account. However in March 2010 a new partnership with FNB allows South Africans to sell via paypal and then move the proceeds to FNB accounts only.
However at the moment as far as we are aware, you cannot accept payment in Rands, only foreign currency, so it is only usable for selling the IBP on the recruiting site to International customers & it means that we can’t use it for the retail site which only sells products in Rands.
We are sure that they are working on making it fully usable though in SA and hope that it will be soon.
More about paypal:
PayPal is an instant and secure online payment service which has no monthly charges. They just take a % off the ammount they process for you. This is a very economical way to accept credit card payments online without a merchant account. The money remains in an online ‘virtual’ account, and you can use it to buy products online with your paypal funds, or you can transfer it to your bank account. As far as we are aware, this is only possible with a FNB account in SA.
People can pay via paypal with a credit card or via their paypal account but they don’t have to have a paypal account in order to pay you.
When someone chooses to pay using using PayPal on your website, customers who are new to PayPal are not required to create a PayPal account to complete a purchase. They can pay with the credit card instead and then are given the option to sign up with PayPal afterward. It will say:
