Credit Card


If you receive an order from your website where they have entered their credit card details for payment, it is then up to YOU to process the credit card transaction. The credit card is not automatically taken off the customers card, you need to process it separately.

You can do this using a company called Wappoint.

Here is information on Wappoint – do check on their website for the current information as it may change. NB: We are not connected to Wappoint in any way. Do let us know if you find out any other methods of processing credit cards that is better. See info below also on Vodacom – however we have not had very good reports on Vodacom yet.

Cost of credit card processing facility:

  1. R150 once off set up fee (Plus Vat.)
  2. R100 per month (Plus Vat.) for the online option only. R160 a month for the Internet (web terminal) and Cell option.
  3. 5%  transaction fee on the turnover will be charged

How to sign up:

  1. Go to the website www.wappoint.co.za
  2. Go to ‘Sign up’ – click on the form that says ‘WAP subscriber detail Herbalife’ Please note that Herbalife Distributors get a SPECIAL DISCOUNT – just make sure you download the Herbalife subscriber form!

How to process credit cards:

  1. Go to the website and apply for authorisation.
  2. An authorisation code will appear on the screen when transaction is successful
  3. Money will be in your account in 3-4 working days.
  4. The Customer whose card is debited will receive an SMS from Wappoint notifying them of the expected debit on the card.

NB: you may find that standard procedure is that you have to get your clients to fill in and fax a special wappoint form before wappoint will process the card. Please don’t worry about doing this for Decision pack orders for R215. Wappoint have confirmed that they are happy to process payments for R215 and less without the form.

Vodacom Paypoint – www.vodacom.co.za .

We have only recently been recommended this method of processing credit cards but have not had a very positive feedback.  If you are using this method do let us know if it is working well and if you would recommend it to others. Here is the info they sent to us – please be aware that this information may change at any time so do check with them for the latest charges / details.

What is it?

Vodacom Paypoint is an affordable service that allows you to turn your cellphone into a mobile point of sale device allowing you to easily accept credit card payments wherever you are, whatever the time. This service is perfect for small businesses, traveling salesmen and tradesmen.

How much does it cost?

Vodacom Paypoint is a cost-effective solution at:

  • R49.00 per month subscription fee
  • Percentage of Turnover: 1% of turnover with a sliding scale reduction of 0.1% per additional R30 000.00 processed per month
  • Plus an optional R10.00 per month per additional handset registered to accept payments.

These charges are additional to standard merchant discount fees charged by the acquiring bank.

How does it work?

Registered users will be able to securely accept credit card payments (Visa and MasterCard) for goods or services and process payments anywhere, anytime, in one of two ways:

  • By calling  082 233 8302  and following the voice prompts
  • Or by dialing *120*1234# on your cellphone

Vodacom Paypoint requires no Sim-Card upgrades or software downloads.  Any make or model GSM Network cell phone is supported.  There are three channels available to you in order to process a transaction, simply select the channel that would best suit your requirements.

  • Access via USSD id charged at standard rates of 20cents / 20 seconds
  • IVR – VAS rates apply
  • WEB – No charge

All that is required to process payments is your customer’s:

  • Credit Card number
  • Expiry date
  • CVV (the 3 digits at the back of the credit card)
  • And the amount due

Once these details have been supplied, both you and your customer will receive a real-time confirmation SMS, including a reference number for tracing purposes, to verify that the value to be paid has been deducted from the credit card details entered. No cheques, no waiting, your transaction is complete there and then!

How do I get it?

To register so that you can accept payments from your customers anywhere, anytime, 24/7, all you need to do is:

  • Print and complete this application form
  • Fax the completed form to  086 650 1130  or  086 656 7086
  • The bank who will be processing your transaction (either Absa or Standard Bank) will contact you within 48 hours to process your application
  • Within 7 to 10 days (following bank clearance) you will be supplied a merchant number that is associated with your cellphone, allowing you to start using your cellphone as a mobile point-of-sale device.
  • Any Vodacom cellphone may be used.

Vodacom Pay point

Vodacom Paypiont it’s a product that allows registered merchants that have Vodacom mobile number to accept credit card payments using their mobile phones anywhere at anytime. This service is only applicable to Vodacom customers who either run their own business or who are sales representatives on behalf of a company.
